PreConception to PreSchool Life Cycle Meeting
June 11, 2003
MINUTES
Present:
Jane Bates (Family Programs-BAMHS), Cherry Cullen (Life Quest), Jamie John, Shauna McCosh (Relaciones), Donna Flenniken (La Familia), Terry Anderson (WNMU), Vicki Johnson (First Born), Claudia Brescia (First Born), and Jane Olson (GCCHC).
Program Updates
Relaciones:
-Shauna was able to switch her DOH funding over to HMS although it got cut considerably, so it will be only for outreach education, and hopefully will include school based health centers in Cliff/Gila
-the retreats that consist of 13 pairs of mothers and daughters coming-into-age will continue to take place at the Wilderness Lodge as Shauna will come back in the summer to do this through HMS
-she needs to find a home for the maternity and infant clothes at her clinic, preferably somewhere that can accept donations and where people can come in to comb through the garments, someone will also have to sort the clothes once in a while. ->The Family Support Center/Bayard Community Center would be good, also -> BAMHS can work it into their Time Dollar program located at Suite 22
-reproductive health presentations are available until July 25 if anyone needs training
Border Area Mental Health Services-Family Programs:
-Free Training on the Four Agreements (don't take it personally, don't make assumptions, always do your best and be true to your word) with 12 CEUs available/pending, June 26&27 at the Buckhorn Opera House in Pinos Altos
Early Childhood Program (WNMU):
-hired a new counselor in Community ChildCare Program as support for behavioral problems in children, team of four counselors now
-contact them if any family is needing help with a crisis
-going through summer crunch time and new budgets while working in the system, in their meeting last Friday they had to decide to not have rehabilitation programs
La Familia:
-new training calendar is out
-on July 19, 9-3:30, there will be representatives from Project Jericho, a project in Albuquerque that works with early childhood care providers, to lay the ground for their funding 10 educational trainings for the year that will focus on working with individuals with disabilities and their families
Life Quest:
-Cherry Cullen is the new director of the Early Intervention Program and will be here at our meetings as much as possible
New Business
Children's Fiesta September 20
-this Life Cycle has funded this year's children's development fair for $500
-the next meeting is June 20 at the Life Quest building on Alabama St.
New Agency Co Chair for this Life Cycle
-Terry Anderson, director of the Early Childhood Program at WNMU, has stepped up to the plate, Thanks Terry!
-as Agency Co Chair, her objective is to continue to have at the table on a regular basis: BAMHS, Life Quest Early Intervention, and to bring to the table Family Support Centers (Lupe Maldonado), and CYFD, also Lynn Hall from the Counseling Department at WNMU
Consumers from Life Cycle for Family Resiliency Focus Group June 27
-Jamie John, Shauna McCosh and Vicki Johnson will be attending
-will help with the Health Council's new core team

We will contact Sylvia Madrid at BAMHS.
ECO Mapping
We will invite Cathie Owens to present to us at our next meeting.
YWCA
Fatherhood Initiative
Grandparents Day
-we will do what we can to promote all of these great projects
